It begins merely by lighting a fire. Soon, though, you’ll attract wanderers willing to help you gather wood to stoke and stockpile. Why not build carts to carry more wood? Set a few traps to lure woodland creatures while you’re at it. Your village grows, and grows. Wonder what lies beyond this tiny safe-haven…
The pacing is simply perfect; the game rewards you with new options to explore at exactly the right time to keep you intrigued. Nothing is ever explicitly explained to you, so you’ll have to learn by doing (the best way!). Interludes of story layer themselves atop your busy beaver chopping and gathering, creating a richly detailed atmosphere despite being a completely textually based game.
